Shannon is a sophomore at the College majoring in Government and Psychology. She started research as a member of the SNaPP Lab Online Political Discussion team the fall of her freshman year. Shannon has helped Prof. Settle with literary analysis for her book which explores various concepts such as what is online political discussion, who is discussing politics online, and when is online discussion happening. Shannon is continuing this research as well as beginning her own project examining gender perceptions in online political discussion. This project specifically analyzes how men and women are perceived differently when they are aggressive engaging a neutral party in an online political discussion. Shannon anticipates collecting and analyzing data for this project this fall to potentially develop this into a senior honors thesis. Outside of the lab, Shannon is involved in the Honor Council, Student Assembly, and a social sorority.
