Mitch is a sophomore at the College majoring in Government. This is his first year participating in research, and aside from helping other lab members on a project about gender perception on social media, Mitch is working with the Online Political Discussion Experiments team to research dynamics of political discourse within the context of social media. Mitch is interested in how political discussion on social media affects individual perceptions of contemporary issues, and how online interaction can influence voting behavior, activism, and public policy. He is also interested in how politicians and pundits in particular exploit social media to mobilize individuals into political participation. Aside from the SNAPP Lab, Mitch writes for an online political blog called The College Conservative and is involved in College Republicans and the Delta Chi fraternity.
