Michael was a Government major at the College of William and Mary. He first began research with Professor Settle his sophomore year. His research was primarily focused on how people discuss politics on social networking sites. Michael continued that research this year and conducted a survey experiment to measure how gender influences people’s perceptions of arguments made during online political discussions. Michael's other research interests include the history of political theory and the role of political and economic institutions in determining policy outcomes. Michael was also involved with the William & Mary Young Democrats and various environmental groups on campus.
